Maran deals with a variety of work to facilitate the smooth acquisition and disposal of commercial properties nationwide. Maran acts on private treaty and auction deals, as well as receiving instructions on general landlord and tenant related work which includes the preparation of leases licences and all associated ancillary documentation that forms part of a transaction. Maran is able to offer practical advice on general day to day issues that can arise for both landlord and tenant when owning or leasing commercial property.
Notable experience gained includes acting for a large provider of private healthcare with the sale of their property portfolio for a reported £1.5bn, assisting with post completion work following the acquisition and renewal of leases across the country by a household name UK retail company, receivership work including the preparation of auction packs in readiness for the sale of various properties and assisting with the preparation of reports on title as part of an exercise involving the refinancing of a company.
Maran studied law at the University of Greenwich and initially went on to practice criminal law for 7 years, representing clients detained in police custody, and appearing before the courts charged with the full range of summary and indictable offences. Upon completing the academic stage of qualification as a lawyer, Maran made the decision to transition to commercial property in 2013 commencing her career in the commercial property department of Wedlake Bell LLP as a paralegal where she stayed for 2 years. Maran then moved on to work for the Structadene Group of companies working for the in house legal department of the company where she obtained a better understanding of the commercial drivers of a property investment company and insight into the day to day common issues that arise when managing a vast and varied property portfolio. Maran qualified as a legal executive lawyer in July 2017 and is based in the Mayfair branch.
